I used a random colour picker to choose the colours I would use in this painting to allow myself to venture out of my comfort zone and try colours I otherwise wouldn't.
I wanted this painting to be about liberation and freedom, because, although I had the constraints of the colours, it allowed me to just let go of expectations for what my paintings are usually like and have the freedom to focus on the contrasting shades of the painting and experiment with a new colour pallet.
 
The rich, deep burgundy and navy blue work well to add some shadow and depth, and the vibrant turquoise and pale purple are perfect for the highlights.
